Frequently asked questions
How does the withdrawal formula work?
By default, years 1–8 withdraw roughly one-third of the year's interest earned (keeping two-thirds reinvested), while years 9 onward withdraw roughly half. The actual withdrawal is always capped at the year's net profit so your principal is never touched. You can override any year with a custom amount or 0 to reinvest everything.
Can I change contributions for specific years?
Yes. Every cell in the Contribution column is editable. Click any cell to type a custom amount for that year. By default every year uses the Annual Contribution from the assumptions above, but you can override any year individually.
What does "% of Net Profit" mean?
It shows how much of the year's net profit (contribution + interest) you are withdrawing, expressed as a percentage. The withdrawal is always capped at 100 % of net profit so your principal is never touched.
